The Cape Town Carnival is not just an event; it's a beautifully layered occasion that brings joy, promotes diversity, and builds social cohesion. 🌍💙

Our recent media launch highlighted its vital role in providing an incredible platform that celebrates our beautiful country – and city. 🇿🇦

Lee Moteetee from Multichoice reminded us that South Africa is a place of boundless talent.🎉

Dunisani Chabalala from the National Department of Sport, Arts & Culture also felt that the carnival provided a platform for unknown artists to shine and had also provided jobs for the production of locally developed content. 🤝

Ricardo MacKenzie, Minister of the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs & Sport, said that they would continue to proudly support events that promote the world’s greatest city.

Total Ninja Park is a supervised activity and fitness venue inspired by the global phenomenon TV series Ninja Warrior. At Africa’s largest inflatable obstacle course, you can climb, balance, jump and swing across different obstacles and improve your Ninja skills.

At the heart of the Cape Town Carnival are stories that inspire, connect, and celebrate the extraordinary people who make it all possible. 🌟

One such story is that of Ebrahim Dollie, a true example of the power of determination and talent. Starting his journey at the Carnival as a cleaner, Ebrahim grew and showed initiative and has become a skilled fabricator in the costume department – bringing his creations to life on the performers.

As Litlhare Moteetee, Head of Corporate Affairs South Africa and Africa at Multichoice, shared at the launch:
"The Cape Town Carnival is more than just an event; it is a platform for stories. It reflects the heart of Cape Town, the soul of South Africa, and the dream of communities. The magic of the Carnival is also what goes on behind the scenes, creating jobs, empowering local talent, and fostering a sense of belonging."

Ebrahim’s journey is a testament to this vision, proving that the Carnival isn’t only about the dazzling costumes and vibrant performances—it’s also about the people who make it all possible.

We’re thrilled to welcome the phenomenal South African Youth Choir to our 2025 parade! 🙌🎤 Known for their captivating performances and breathtaking harmonies, they’ll be bringing their talent, energy, and South African pride to this year’s WOWZA! celebration. 🎉 Since its inception in 2005, the multi award-winning, internationally acclaimed South African Youth Choir (SAYC) has showcased its vast abilities on both local and international platform, entertaining a variety of audiences across the globe. SAYC has positioned itself as one of the most sought-after performance choirs in the country and regularly performs and records with various local and international artists. The choir does not only promote a unique musical product of international standard but also endorses raw and exceptional South African youth talent. 🎉✨ Cape Town Carnival 2025 Media Launch Highlights! Part 1 🇿🇦

Get ready for a celebration of 15 incredible years! WowZA! 🌟

On Thursday, at the media launch, Cape Town Carnival Chairperson, Professor Rachel Jafta, announced the theme for this year's carnival, saying that when people attend the Cape Town Carnival they can see what South Africa can be. Everyone comes together to have fun and tell and create stories through different formats like dance, music, performances, art and beautiful costumes. For her, that is worth celebrating as it is a moment that makes one say ‘Wow, South Africa’, which is where the theme of WowZA! originates from. 🎭🎉

The Cape Town Carnival represents an opportunity to connect people said our CEO, Jay Douwes. She encouraged everyone to come and experience the celebration of community-based creativity and culture – for her, the carnival is the most life-affirming event of the year.

Alongside hundreds of talented local performers and artists that have come to define the Cape Town Carnival, there will be various new faces parading down the Fan Walk in 2025. For the first time in the Carnival’s 15-year history, the DHL Stormers will bring their electric energy to the Cape Town Carnival as they take on the fan walk on their dedicated ‘Taking the Cape by Storm’ float.

Salmaan Moerat, Captain of the DHL Stormers, said that they are really excited about involved in the carnival and it aligns with their mission of making Cape Town smile. 🌍💃

Join us on the Green Point Fanwalk on 15 March 2025 for an unforgettable experience with 50 groups, over 1 500 performers, and a vibrant showcase of Cape Town's community, culture, and creativity! 🎺🕺

This year, we’re turning up the joy, laughter, and fun with a touch of glamour, all wrapped in the wonder of the Mother City's Magic. This Carnival, we’re honouring Cape Town, South Africa, and the incredible journey we’ve had over the past 15 years!

Speaking at the media launch event last night, Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Geordin Hill-Lewis said, "It is so important for residents to get out into shared spaces, celebrating art, dance and performance. This has become a mainstay of Cape Town event calendar and incredible that we are now celebrating the 15th anniversary of the CT Carnival. It is a confirmation of how integral it has become in our City’s culture. Congratulations on reaching this milestone. I’m sure it’s going to be another wonderful celebration."
