Auditions for Lead Performers
A ‘Lead Performer’ is a costumed performer creating stories through movement, improvisation, characterization and dance at our annual Carnival event on 19 March 2022.
Criteria to be a lead performer
Performance Skills: Dance, Interpretative Movement, Acting, Characterisation and Improvisational Skills.
Professionalism: Always on time for Rehearsals, Workshops and on Event day. Must effectively communicate with Performance Director and Leads Co-ordinator and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality performance
Passion: Be willing to share your skills, enthusiasm, leadership and be an ambassador for the Cape Town Carnival.
Must be available to commit to the following rehearsals and fitness training sessions:
- 3x Leads Creative Workshops on Saturday mornings.
- 3x Fitness sessions on Saturday mornings e.g: mountain hikes, flash mobs
- Minimum of 1 – 3 rehearsals and costume fittings.

- Exposure, wherever possible Cape Town Carnival will connect the leads to opportunities above and beyond the Event. e.g. appearing at Cape Town Marathon, Expresso Show appearances, and many more different events…
